Ingredients:
1 ½ Cup
Poha(Thick Varity Aval)
1 Cup Green Peas
2 Onion, Finely
chopped
3 Green chilies,
Silted
1 Pinch Hing
(perungayam)
1 tsp Mustard
seeds
½ tsp Cumin seeds
(Jeeragam)
½ tsp Turmeric
1 Sprig Curry
leaves
1 Lemon
2 tblsp cooking
oil
Salt to taste
Preparation:
- Rinse the Aval 2 to 3 times and soak it in Hot water 10 minutes along with salt. When the Aval comes to soft texture, drain the water and keep aside until cook.
- Rinse the Green Peas 2 or 3 times and soak it in water 8 to 10 hours. Drain the water, transfer Green peas to cooker. Cover the pressure cooker for 3 whistles on medium flame. Once the pressure cooker settle down, open the pressure cooker, drain the water and keep aside.
Method:
- In a pan, add 2 tblsp oil, add 1 Pinch Hing(Perungayam)
- Add Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds
- When the Cumin seeds turns golden brown, add Curry leaves and Green chilies
- Add Onion and sauté it turns transparent
- Add turmeric
- Add green peas and mix well
- Add soaked Poha and mix well. Close the lid, let it cook for a minute
- Finally squeeze the lemon and mix well
- Serve the poha matar with hot tea

Notes:
- If you are using thick Aval variety rinse the aval 2 or 3 times, drain it completely, then add Hot water along with salt, let it sit 10 to 15 minutes. So that it will become soft
- You can use any kind of aval. but make sure check it is soft before start cook
- You can use fresh green peas also.
