Ponnanganni Poriyal Recipe| Dwarf  Copperleaf  Poriyal Recipe

Ingredients:
1 Bunch Ponnanganni keerai
2 onion, Finely  Chopped
4 tblsp grated coconut
3 tblsp channa
Salt to taste

To Tempering:
1 Tsp Mustard seeds
3 Dry chilies
1 Sprig Curry leaves
1 Tblsp Cooking  Oil

To Grinding
3 Garlic
½ tsp Cumin seeds(Jeeragam)

Preparation:

  1. In a bowl add channa dal, soak it in water for 4 hours
  2. Add Garlic and Cumin seeds to Mixi jar. grind it as paste and keep aside
  3. Wash ponnangani keerai thrice and chop them roughly & keep aside
Method:

  1. In a pot add 1 cup water, add soaked channa dal. Let them cook till the channa dal  cooks well and drain the water, keep aside
  2. Heat a pan, add 1 tblsp oil and Mustard seeds
  3. When mustard seeds crackle, add Curry leaves, dry chilies
  4. Add Onion. Sauté it till onion gets transparent
  5. Add Cooked Ponnagani keerai and mix well
  6. Close the lid and let it cook till keerai cooks half
  7. Add cooked channa dal and mix well
  8. Add grinded masala paste and grated coconut and needed salt. Mix well
  9. Close the lid and let it cook on low heat till keerai cooks well
  10. Serve Kothavarangai poriyal with rice and sambar

Mix well
Add Grinded garlic and cumin paste
Add Grated coconut and mix well
Mix well,close the lid and let it cook on low heat for 5 minutes
Serve Kothavarangai poriyal with rice and sambar
