How to make Pototo Poriyal with Pepper | Urulai kizhangu poriyal


Potato poriyal is the south Indian side dish and delicious too. Its very simple to prepare.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:
5 Small Size Pototo
1 Big size Onion, Finely Chopped
2  Green chilies, Slited
1 tsp Pepper

For Grinding:

4 Garlic, Peeled
1 tsp cumin seeds

For Tempering:

2 tblsp oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 Sprig Curry leaves

Preparation:
(1 Cup = 150 ml)

1.       In a pressure cooker, add potato and 2 cup water. Cover the pressure cooker for 6 whistle on medium flame. Once the pressure cooker is settle down, open the cooker and smash the potato and keep aside.
2.      Transfer garlic and cumin seeds in mixi jar, grind it and keep aside
3.      Transfer the Pepper to mixi jar and grind it as powder and keep aside

Method:

1.       In a pan, add 2 tblsp oil and add mustard seeds
2.      When Mustard seed crackle add curry leaves, onion and green chilies. Sauté it till the onion turns transparent
3.      Add smashed potato and mix well. Cover with lid and let it cook for a minute
4.      Add Garlic and Cumin paste and mix well
5.      Add Grated coconut and mix well and let it cook for 5 minutes
6.      Finally add Pepper and mix well.
7.      Serve Potato fry with rice

Step by step Pictorial:
