Aloo Poha Recipe| Aval with potato Recipe

Ingredients:

1 Cup Poha(Thick Varity Aval)
Handful Green Peas
2 Potato
2 tblsp peanuts
1 Onion, Finely chopped
2 Green chilies, Silted
1 piece ginger, chopped
1 Pinch Hing (perungayam)
1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeeragam)
½ tsp Turmeric
1 Pinch hing(Perungayam)
1 Sprig Curry leaves
½ Lemon
1 tblsp cooking oil
Salt to taste

Preparation:
  1. Rinse the Aval 2 to 3 times and soak it in Hot water along with salt. When the Aval comes to soft texture, drain the water and keep aside until cook.
  2. Rinse the Green Peas 2 or 3 times and soak it in water 6 to 7 hours. Drain the water, transfer Green peas along with required salt to cooker. Cover the pressure cooker for 3 whistles on medium flame. Once the pressure cooker settle down, open the pressure cooker, drain the water and keep aside.
  3. In a presser cooker add 1 cup water, potato and salt. Cover the lid for 2 whistles. Once the cooker settle down open the cooker, peel the potato skin and cut the potato as small pieces and keep aside.

Method:
  1. In a pan, add 2 tblsp oil
  2. Add Cumin seeds
  3. When the Cumin seeds turns golden brown, add Curry leaves and Ginger saute them for a minutes
  4. Add Turmeric and Hing(Perungayam)
  5. Add Onion and green chilies, sauté them till onion turns transparent
  6. Add potato and mix well
  7. Add pea nuts and green peas and mix well
  8. Add soaked Poha and mix well. Close the lid, let it cook for a minute
  9. Finally squeeze the lemon and mix well
  10. Serve the Aloo Poha with hot tea

Step by step pictorial instructions:

In a pan, add 2 tblsp oil
Add Cumin seeds 
When the Cumin seeds turns golden brown, add Curry leaves and Ginger
Saute them till ginger turns color change
Add Turmeric and Hing(Perungayam)
Add Onion 
Saute it till onion turns transparent
Add potato and mix well
Add peanuts 
Add Cooked Green peas then mix well
Add soaked Poha and mix well.let it cook for a minute
Finally squeeze the lemon and mix well
Serve the Aloo Poha with hot tea


Notes:
  1. If you are using thick Aval variety rinse the aval 2 or 3 times, drain it completely, then add Hot water along with salt, let it sit 10 to 15 minutes. So that it will become soft
  2. You can use any kind of aval. but make sure check it is soft before start cook
  3. You can use fresh green peas also
