How To Make Channa Masala Gravy


Channa Masala is the great Indian side dish for chapathi, Parata and Chola Poori. Its prepared with main ingredients chickpeas , Onion and tomato paste.

Ingredients:
For Curry:

1 Onion, Finely Chopped
1 Bayleaf
2 Piece Cinnamons
2 Cardamoms
3 Cloves
1 Tblsp Coriander Powder
1 Tblsp Garam masala Powder
1 Cup Black Channa
2 Tblsp Cooking oil
Salt as needed
Water as needed

For Grinding:

2 Onion, Chopped
3 Medium size Tomato
1 Tblsp Ginger and Garlic Paste
1 Tblsp Chilly Powder
1 tsp Turmeric
1 Tblsp oil

For garnishing:

Methi leaves

Preparation:

1.       Wash 2 or 3 times channa and soak it in water for 4 hours
2.      After 4 hours drain the water from channa, transfer it to the cooker along with water and few salt. cover the pressure cooker for 3 whistles. Once the pressure cooker settle down, open it drain the water and keep aside
3.     Transfer the Ginger and garlic to the blender, grind it then keep aside


Method:
Gravy Masala:

1.       In a pan add 1 tblsp oil and add onion, sauté it till gets transparent
2.      Add Ginger & garlic paste and sauté them till raw smell disappear
3.      Add Tomato, sauté it till gets mushy
4.      Add Chilly powder and turmeric, sauté them for a minute. Transfer the fried  ingredients to the plate and let it cool for a minutes.
5.     Transfer the whole to the blender, grind it as a smooth paste. Transfer to the bowl and keep aside.

Gravy

1.       In a pan add 2 tblsp oil, then add Cloves, Cinnamons, Cardamoms, Bayleaves. Sauté it on low heat for a minute
2.      Add Onion and sauté it till onion gets transparent
3.      Add Gravy masala and sauté it for a minute (Don’t fry long time because its already fried)
4.      Add Coriander powder and garam masala powder. Mix well
5.      Add cooked channa and Mix well
6.      Add required water and salt let it cook till the gravy masala raw smell disappear
7.      Garnish with methi leaves
8.     Serve the channa masala with chappathi or Parata or Chola Poori
