 How to Make Kovakkai | Ivy gourd Poriyal recipe

Kovakkai or ivy gourd is help to regulate the blood sugar level. It has been used to treat the diabetes by ayurvedic medication. As well it helps in improving body metabolism to prevent obesity.

Ingredients:
100 Gram Kovakkai
1 onion, Chopped
1 tblsp Chilly powder
½ tblsp Garam masala
¼ Cup Coconut Grated
Salt to taste

To Tempering:
1 Tsp Mustard seeds
1 Sprig Curry leaves
2 Tsp Oil

Method:

1.     Heat a pan. Add 2 tsp oil
2.     Add Mustard seeds
3.     When mustard seeds crackle, add Curry leaves and Onion. Sauté it till onion turns golden brown
4.     Add Kovakkai and mix well
5.     Add Chilly and garam masala powder. Then mix well.
6.     Close the lid and let it boil on low heat till the kovakkai cooks well
7.     Add required salt and grated Coconut. let it cook for a minutes
8.     Serve Kovakkai poriyal with rice
