How To Make Ragi semiya Upma

Ragi Semiya Upma with Step by Step Photos

Ingredients:
Ragi Semiya, 1 Pocket
1 Onion, Finely Chopped
2 Green Chilies
1 tblsp Channa dal
1 tblsp Urad dal
1 tblsp Peanuts
1 tblsp Cooking oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 Sprig curry leaves
Salt as needed

Preparation:
In a bowl add Ragi semiya, soak it in water along with salt till ragi semiya gets soft

Method:
1.       In a Pan, add 1 tblsp Oil and Mustard seeds
2.      When Mustard seeds crackle, add Urad dal, Channa dal, Peanuts. Fry till dals gets golden brown.
3.      Add Onion, Green chilies ,Curry leaves and salt. Fry till onion gets transparent
4.      Add Soaked Ragi semiya and mix well
5.      Close the lid and let it cook for a minutes
6.      Serve the ragi semiya with Coconut chutney.

In a Pan, add 1 tblsp Oil and Mustard seeds

Add Onion, Green chilies and Curry leaves. Fry till onion gets transparent
Add Soaked Ragi semiya and mix well
Close the lid and let it cook for 5 minutes
Ragi semiya Cooked well
Serve the ragi semiya with Coconut chutney.

My notes:

  1. You can use any kind of Ragi semiya but make sure check it is soft before adding to the Upma. 
  2. Don’t over soak ragi semiya otherwise it will get mushy.
