Tomato and onion chutney | Thakali and vengaya chutney

along with idly,dosa,Pongal or any snacks.it made with main ingredients tomato
and onion.

Ingredients:

onion, Finely chopped

Medium size Tomato, Finely chopped

Dry chilies

tblsp channa

Garlic Peeled
Salt
to taste

tblsp cooking oil
For Tempering:
1
tblsp oil
1
tsp Mustard seeds
1
Sprig Curry leaves
Method:
1. In a Pan add 1 tblsp
oil. Add channa dal and fry till it turns golden brown. Transfer one plate and
keep aside
2. Add Dry chilies and fry
till it turns brown. Transfer to the plate and keep aside
3. Add Garlic and Onion.
Fry them till onion gets transparent.
4. Add tomato and sauté it
till the tomato raw smell disappear
5. Let them cool for 10
minutes
6. Transfer all fried
ingredients and add salt to mixi jar. Grind it as smooth paste
7. Transfer the tomato
chutney to the bowl
8. Meanwhile, in a pan add
1 tblsp oil and mustard seeds
9. When Mustard seeds
crackle, add curry leaves
10. Pour tempering over the
tomato chutney and mix well
11. Serve the tomato chutney
with idly or dosa

1. Don’t add water when we
grind the tomato chutney.
2. Add some salt when we
sauté the onion. It helps onion will cook fast.
