Ingredients:
200 gram Avarakai(Flat beans)
1 onion, Chopped
Salt to taste
To grinding:
2 green Chilies
4 tblsp grated Coconut
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 garlic cloves
To Tempering:
1 Tsp Mustard seeds
1 Sprig Curry leaves
2 Tblsp Oil
Preparation:
- Transfer grated coconut, cumin, garlic, green chilies to the mixi jar. Grind it as slightly coarse paste.
- Cut the avarakai 2 sides and wash them. Cut as small pieces and keep aside
1. Heat a pan. Add 2 tsp oil
2. Add Mustard seeds. When mustard seeds crackle, add Curry
leaves and Onion. Sauté it till onion turns golden brown
3. Add Avarakai and mix well. Let it cook for 5 mintues
4. Add grinded coconut paste and salt. Mix well
5. Close the lid and let it cook on low heat till the masala
raw smell disappear
6. Serve Avarakai poriyal with rice and sambar
Step by Step Pictorial Instructions:
Heat a pan. Add 2 tsp oil and mustard seeds
When mustard seeds crackle, add Curry leaves and Onion

Mix well
Add Grinded masala
Mix well
Close the
lid and let it cook on low heat till the masala raw smell disappear
Avarakai cooks well
Serve Avarakai
poriyal with rice and sambar
